FUTURA 17
Design
PAOLA NAVONE

Fluid shapes dilate space and move as liquid as enamel in a timeless dance.
In the FUTURA collection, Paola Navone re-invents the shapes of Baroque-inspired ceramics, transforming the objects of the traditional artisan businesses of Bassano del Grappa and Nove in the Vicenza area in northern Italy, from which she drew inspiration, into contemporary decorative elements.
The objects of the collection, now free from their traditional colored glazing and the decorative excess typical of the Baroque style, are now able to let the shapes and volumes prevail, enhanced by the purity of the white material. The vase FUTURA 17 stands out among the design objects of the collection, and fascinates in its entirety.
Matter moves smoothly and volumes dance in space. Supported by four feet, the vase expands its volumes like a futuristic sculpture and twirls with the lines in a baroque echo. The glaze overflows from the inside to the outside edge revealing the porous matter.

baroque and contemporary style
Leaning upwards with a rush of vaults that recall the baroque style, FUTURA 17 fits perfectly into modernity. The enamel gives light to the upper part of the vase and overflows from the inside out joining the vase's dancing forms.
the glazing
The glaze, necessary to make the material waterproof, lets the raw material of the ceramic bisque emerge in the casting, lying in the inner part of the bonnet and on the lid, thus accentuating the materiality of this design piece of furniture.
