WOODS
OUR FIRST MATERIAL, OUR LASTING SIGNATURE
Wood has been at the heart of LANDO’s craftsmanship since our early days, when we specialized in replicating antique furniture with meticulous attention to detail. This foundation taught us to honour the essence of wood and its transformation over time.
With nearly 50 years of experience, we continue to select high-quality, certified woods—valuing their grain, balance, and natural character. Traditional joinery and our distinctive finishes enhance their innate beauty, creating furniture that expresses harmony, strength, and enduring elegance.
Larch
Our larch comes from the Austrian Alps, a region known for producing fine, long-respected woods. We select only sustainably planted, high-quality timber, carefully checked to ensure it’s free from resin pockets. Treated to enhance its natural tones, the wood reveals a striking contrast between pale sapwood and dark heartwood. Hand-sandblasting brings out its clean grain, adding depth and tactile character.
Walnut
Coming from the areas of Northeast America, where the forest environment is preserved with extreme care, the American walnut is known in Italy as black walnut. This walnut differs from the national one for its more variegated tone, dark brown, which makes it a very elegant and versatile wood. The color is revived thanks to the application of natural oil or preserves the vigor of its natural woody fiber.
Oak
With a long tradition in Nordic furniture-making, oak is valued for both its durability and timeless beauty. We select our oak from the forests of Slavonia, a region in eastern Croatia known for high-quality timber. Fully recyclable, this wood reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainability and thoughtful material choices.
Cherry
We carefully select this prized European wood, known for its subtle charm and distinctive wavy grain. Rich in history and natural warmth, cherry offers a refined palette of tones that brings a timeless character to even the most contemporary projects.
Ash
Ash is a strong, flexible, and easy-to-work wood, valued for its versatility and bold character. With its distinctive texture, dynamic grain, and light, luminous tones, it’s an ideal choice for projects that seek a natural yet contemporary feel.
Beech
We select beech for its strength, durability, and long-term stability — ideal for clean, essential design elements. Naturally sensitive to moisture, this wood is not used in outdoor settings, where it would not offer the same resilience.
